Olivia Munn To Host Critics’ Choice Awards

DEADLINE – Olivia Munn has been set to host the 2018 Critics’ Choice Awards, which are set for January 11 at Barker Hanger in Santa Monica and airing on the CW.

The show, run by the Broadcast Film Critics Association and the Broadcast Television Journalists Association and in its 23rd edition, aired on A&E last year in December. TJ Miller had hosted the combined film and TV awards show the past two years.

Munn will preside over a show that will include a tribute to Gal Gadot, who will receive the #SeeHer Award presented by her Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins. The award recognizes a woman who embodies the values set forth by the #SeeHer movement — to push boundaries on changing stereotypes and recognize the importance of accurately portraying women across the entertainment landscape. Viola Davis won the honor last year.

Among nominations this year, Fox Searchlight’s The Shape of Water led all films with 14 noms, while Netflix topped all networks.

On Wednesday morning, Olivia attended the 24th Annual SAG Awards Nominations Announcement at SilverScreen Theater at the Pacific Design Center (December 13). Olivia announced the nominations along with Niecy Nash! Check out the photos and video below.

EW – On Wednesday, the SAG Awards announced their nominees for this year’s best performances in film and television, kicking the Oscar race into high gear.

Olivia Munn and Niecy Nash announced the nominations from the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood on Wednesday morning. In the film categories, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri led with a total of four nominations, including Frances McDormand, Sam Rockwell, and Woody Harrelson, as well as a nomination for best ensemble. Award season favorites like Lady Bird, Get Out, and The Shape of Water also picked up multiple nominations.

LOS ANGELES (Dec. 5, 2017) – Olivia Munn (X-Men: Apocalypse, The Predator) and Niecy Nash (Claws, The Soul Man) will announce the nominees for the 24th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards® on Wednesday, Dec. 13 at the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood, Executive Producer Kathy Connell announced today. The nominations announcement will be carried live on TNT, TBS, truTV, sagawards.tntdrama.com, truTV.com and sagawards.org at 10 a.m. (ET) / 7 a.m. (PT). The Actor® Nominations also can be viewed via TNT’s Facebook, Twitter @TNTdrama and YouTube channels and TBS’s Facebook, Twitter @tbsnetwork and YouTube channels.

SAG-AFTRA President Gabrielle Carteris will introduce Munn and Nash. Before that announcement, this year’s stunt ensemble honors nominees will be announced by SAG Awards Committee Chair JoBeth Williams and SAG Awards Committee Member Elizabeth McLaughlin during a live webcast on sagawards.tntdrama.com and sagawards.org at 9:50 a.m. (ET) / 6:50 a.m. (PT).

The 24th Annual SAG Awards, hosted by Kristen Bell, will be simulcast live on TNT and TBS on Sunday, Jan. 21, 2018 at 8 p.m. (ET) / 5 p.m. (PT).  TBS and TNT subscribers can also watch the SAG Awards live through the networks’ websites and mobile apps. In addition, TNT will present a special encore of the ceremony at 11 p.m. (ET) / 8 p.m. (PT).

Olivia Munn is an actor, author and activist currently filming the second season of the History Channel’s SIX. She will next be seen on film, as the lead in the action-thriller Hummingbird and starring in Shane Black’s The Predator opposite Keegan-Michael Key and Sterling K. Brown.  She will also appear in Buddy Games, Josh Duhamel’s directing debut. Among her most recent movies are The LEGO Ninjago Movie, Office Christmas Party and X-Men: Apocalypse. Munn’s television credits include Aaron Sorkin’s HBO political drama The Newsroom, and Comedy Central’s The Daily Show. She also teamed with The CW to develop a 1970s female sportscaster drama series, which will be produced by her CBS Television Studios-based company.

Olivia Joins “Hummingbird”

Olivia Munn Replacing Zoe Saldana in ‘Hummingbird’

DEADLINEEXCLUSIVE: Olivia Munn (The Predator) is replacing Zoe Saldana in the action thriller Hummingbird, after Saldana experienced some scheduling conflicts due to the Avatar sequels. Directed by Marcus Kryler and Fredrik Akerström from a Black List script by John McClain, the story is about a female black-ops assassin (Munn) whose latest mark forces her to confront her true identity. The script is in the vein of the highly successful actioner Lucy.

Fundamental’s Mark Gao and Gregory Ouanhon are producing Hummingbird with Todd Garner for Broken Road. Fundamental’s Gary Glushon will executive produce.

Fundamental picked up rights to the project in October and will finance and produce with Broken Road Productions. Munn (X-Men: Dark Phoenix, X-Men: ApocalpyseNewsroom) is repped by CAA, Atlas Artists and and Jackoway Tyerman Wertheimer Austen Mandelbaum Morris & Klein.

Olivia attended the premiere of The LEGO Ninjago Movie in Westwood, California (September 16). The LEGO Ninjago Movie will be in cinemas September 22nd (USA).
